Freedom to Read

Enjoy a cup of coffee and listen to members of the SAIT community read excerpts of books that were once banned or challenged! The Reg Erhardt Library is proud to host our annual Freedom to Read Week event on Tuesday, February 28. The event kicks off at 12 p.m. with presentations from Ebony Magnus, Lambie Hamilton, and Pablo Zanetta on topics surrounding intellectual freedom. Steve Olson, Academic Chair for Radio, Television and Broadcast News and Film and Video Production, will then lend his fantastic storytelling voice to a 15 minute reading from Fahrenheit 451 followed by 15 minute readings from a great selection of banned and challenged books throughout the afternoon. Take a break from your day and join the Reg Erhardt Library for this engaging drop-in event! Visit the Freedom to Read website for more information about why we celebrate our freedom of expression.
