Copyright and Licensing for Open Educational Resources Online
Do you include photos or diagrams in your PowerPoint slides? Use blogs or social media in your courses? Use teaching materials you find online? Do you wonder how to incorporate open licensed works into your course? All of these activities involve copyright and licensing decisions. This session will introduce faculty and staff to copyright and open licensing basics, as well as provide a simple workflow to help identify and use Creative Commons licensed works.
This session will cover:
- Definitions of copyright, fair dealing, and open licensing.
- Rationale behind and purpose of open licenses
- Identifying the 6 Creative Commons licenses and their uses
